SYSTEMS ENGINEERING.

We are a dependable development partner on the journey towards the intelligent, networked automotive products and functions of tomorrow. As an independent firm with expertise across the board, we develop vehicle systems, functions and components. We allow our experts the autonomy to carry out their duties as they see fit – from the concept and requirements management to the system architecture and realisation. We ensure that products are consistently traceable as a matter of course, always working in line with established automotive guidelines and standards, such as A-SPICE and FuSi. By leveraging synergies within the ASAP Group, we pursue a holistic, systems-oriented mindset and provide a full range of services – from automotive systems engineering to software development – all from a single source. We have an intimate understanding of motor vehicles, along with all their associated components and functions, and network this knowledge across disciplines. For example, we produce and expand system architectures and offer services to draw up and evaluate requirements catalogues and functional specifications. We take responsibility for systems, functions and components and also offer application and data management services. We accompany the mobility products of the future from realisation to homologation and their market launch.

TESTING & INTEGRATION.

Our testing and integration services can boast unparalleled consistency and universality – which enables us to develop holistic solutions each and every time, in accordance with exacting quality requirements and all established guidelines and standards. Our experts’ extensive understanding of integration testing enables us to tackle and overcome the challenges presented by the rising complexity of vehicle electronics. We always keep our eye on megatrends like connectivity, e-mobility, autonomous driving and the overall vehicle system, including backend systems and Car2X. This enables us to act as a development partner at every stage, through to final release. From SIL to HIL to the overall system, we verify and validate complex electrical components, modules and systems. This includes applying automated, intelligent testing methods as well as systems and algorithms based on artificial intelligence (AI). We draw on our extensive expertise in test planning, fault management, test automation, test performance and analysis across various domains to bring projects to a successful conclusion. By using automated test cases, we generate significant test and cost savings in development while ensuring optimal quality standards.

Nina - Project manager.

Lighting the way: Nina and her team are responsible for more than 30 different control units – from climate and comfort electronics to keyless vehicle entry. “As a neutral testing body, my colleagues test the functions of RGB LED modules,” explains the test integration project manager. These are part of a car’s ambient lighting system and illuminate areas such as the footwells, doors, centre console and dashboard in different colours. “We take measurements even before we have the vehicle available to us, using a measurement system that comprises an Ulbricht sphere and spectrometers. This enables us to determine colour deviations under the influence of temperature and voltage,” the physicist explains.  “The challenge for us lies in planning, coordinating and ensuring the proper functioning of control units over the period from pre-series development through to release,” says Nina.

TEST SYSTEMS.

In the field of test systems, we take care of all aspects from the concept, CAD-based planning and cross-domain implementation, to integration in existing testing landscapes, right through to continued development, maintenance, servicing and subsequent system architecture upgrades. Our services include turnkey solutions for functional validation, with a particular focus on comfort and ADAS/AD functions. We implement automation in test systems fully in line with customer-specific requirements thanks to our modular, scalable and proven system. We also conceptualise, design and produce automotive test systems for reliability and life cycle testing on electronic and mechanical components. In addition, we develop individual test benches as tailored, bespoke solutions for specific applications.

Jürgen - Development engineer.

Viva la México: ASAP employee Jürgen spent three weeks in North America working on a customer project. While there, he and a colleague started up a laboratory for an SUV model. “We built the SUV test bench for our customer over several months at our Ingolstadt site and then organised its transport to Mexico. To ensure that the various components worked together as a whole, we networked all the control units and components and commissioned the entire system in Mexico in cooperation with the customer.” The fact that his work, passion and dedication produced a finished product is a source of pride for the electrical engineer. “Commissioning the test system in Mexico and training the employees on site was an unforgettable experience.”

WIRE HARNESS.

With wire harness development services that boast unmatched universality, we cover the entire process – from the architecture to installation in the vehicle, all from a single source. It starts with designing the wire harness architecture and defining the overall concept, to electrological aspects and producing the circuit diagram, through to cable routing and developing individual components. We have experts in all established and required development tools and provide assistance in the creation of prototype and model wire harnesses. In addition, we are specialists in both virtual validation and physical testing required for approval processes. We have also set ourselves the task of making wire harness development more efficient and automating this process using proprietary software. This will secure our position as a dependable development partner for wire harnesses in future vehicle generations.

Robert – Head of Module Management.

“As one of the first employees on the Wire Harness Development team, I saw our initial work at first hand. I was able to try out lots of different jobs, get actively involved and build a solid network. Today, it’s great to see what we’ve achieved together in recent years – from three employees in late 2011, we now have 300 employees involved in wire harness development across Germany. I’m really proud of that!” says Robert, Head of Module Management in the Wire Harness Development team.
